About Champion 3D

Champion 3D is a working 3D design and 3D printing studio based in Building A4 at Design District, Greenwich Peninsula. From our studio, we produce prototypes, architectural models, display pieces, replacement parts and custom objects for designers, businesses, artists and members of the public.

Visitors will be able to step inside a small creative manufacturing workspace and see how digital files are turned into physical objects. The studio brings together design, material knowledge, machine operation and hands-on finishing, showing how 3D printing is used as a practical tool rather than just a futuristic idea.

What materials do you 3D print with?

Our main material is recycled PLA, a plant-based bio-plastic. It is a practical material for many prototypes, models and display objects, and it allows us to offer a wide range of colours while keeping material waste in mind.

We also print with specialist materials where a project needs particular properties, such as added toughness, flexibility, heat resistance or a different visual finish. During the open day, visitors will be able to handle sample prints and compare how different materials look and feel.

What visitors will see

Visitors will see FDM 3D printers in action and learn the basic journey from digital design to finished object. We will show example prints, explain how models are prepared, and talk through the kinds of decisions that affect the final result, including material choice, print time, scale and finishing.

The visit will be informal and suitable for people who are curious about design, making, technology, local manufacturing or how small creative studios work inside Design District.
