Greenwich, Deptford
We will meet at Deptford Station, and walk to one of our new solar sites and finish at G-West Community & Arts Centre.
The walking tour will last for 1 hour and 45 minutes. The centre where the workshop will be held is fully accessible.
The walking tour is likely to be stimulating as we walk through bustling neighbourhoods in London.
South East London Community Energy (Selce) is a member led cooperative founded in 2014 by a group of local people who believed that everyone should have access to affordable, clean energy.
We raise money for renewable energy projects through community share offers. People who invest in our projects know they are helping save CO2 emissions and lowering energy bills.
We collaborate with residents, businesses, and organisations to develop projects that help us achieve this vision.
Currently our work focuses on four main strands:
• community owned solar
• LED retrofit for community buildings
• energy Advice for people struggling to pay their bills
• practical advice and support for people who want to retrofit their homes.
We’ll start with a walking tour of two sites that have benefitted from community energy plus the chance to see our portable solar-powered generator—the solar roller—in action.
Members of our solar, retrofit and energy advice team will then facilitate a workshop on how community energy can help future-proof our city.
