A transformative project to open up Cockpit for the benefit its makers and the local community. Our proposal for the redevelopment of Cockpit’s studio building in Deptford was supported by the Mayor of London’s Good Growth Fund and the Stride partnership. Completed in early summer 2024, the project makes Cockpit more publicly accessible and creates new workshop and studio space for makers. The project includes a new tiled public art mural - ‘Head, Heart, Hands’ by Amber Khokhar – celebrating Deptford’s diverse community

Join us for the annual open day at Creekside Discovery Centre on the banks of Deptford Creek. We are a thriving wildlife conservation and environmental education charity. Our open day will include a host of fun activities for people of all ages as you'll be able get up close and personal with wild plants and animals sharing Creekside with us - on land and in the river!

Acme Propeller Factory on Childers Street in Deptford is a 1920’s former ship propeller foundry. It has been home to artists since 1990. Currently, its 70,492 square feet of studio space is divided into 135 studio units, with 180 artists working in them over four floors. The building is also home to The Acme Archive, the Acme Window Gallery and our public community and engagement space.

Deptford's history is mainly linked to the river, but it also has a rich musical and cultural heritage. This walking tour will explore the sounds of Deptford and New Cross, along the way telling the radical – and often tragic – history of this diverse area, from police clashes at the Moonshot Club to groundbreaking community arts projects at the Albany.

Brockley Conservation Area's High Victorian enclave holds many interesting houses in a variety of styles, including Edwardian domestic architecture, historic trees and original lanes and mews. These have survived into the 21st century almost intact. Houses built in the 1950s and 1960s indicate WWII bomb damage and add to the area's variety and history.
