About

The Vision

The objective of the proposed development is to secure the regeneration of the Clarendon Gasworks, transforming an unused brownfield site into a thriving and cohesive neighbourhood. By focusing on the quality of the communal spaces we have sought to create a masterplan that engenders a tangible sense of community for residents

History

Following the completion of the Great Northern Railway (GNR) in 1850 and housing to the south of the site at Clarendon Road, a tobacco manufactory with a proprietor’s house and worker’s cottages was built to the west of the site. The Moselle Brook, which currently runs east to west across the middle of the site in a culverted. A screw factory is built to the north end of the site and in 1888 The remainder of the site was acquired by the Hornsey Gas Works for gas making.

In 1957 gas making ends on the site and it is retained as a gas holder station. In 2005 remaining gasholders are decommissioned due to improvements in the way we store gas.

In 2018 Haringey Council approved Berkeley’s plans to transform the site into a thriving and cohesive neighbourhood.

The Regeneration

Following the 2018 planning consent work started on site. By 2021 the first homes were delivered.

Today 772 homes have been delivered across the site, as well as road improvements, new commercial spaces and a park with water features.
