A house of birch

This private home in South West London is owned by a young couple with ambition to explore and blend contemporary modern architecture with a period terraced property.

Forgeworks architects were engaged to create a bold new design encompassing both architecture + interiors. Their work follows a design-led approach and encourages collaboration with clients and others creatives and trades to deliver projects that are diverse, well considered and most importantly a personal.

This project involved the complete internal remodelling, extension and refurbishment of the existing house including new hard and soft landscaping.

Highlights of the project include:
- Oversized external glazed garden pivot door
- 5.5m long in-situ cast concrete island and dining table combined.
- Bespoke internal silver birch plywood cladding and joinery
- Bespoke kitchen
- Feature exposed painted brickwork and patterning.
- Statement dark stained cedar façade and boundary cladding.
- A modern interpretation of Victorian period interior detailing.

The architects will be on hand to give private guided tours of the house, providing insight into the development of the design, detail and delivery of the project.
