On the surface Thamesmead might seem concrete and grey, but on this tour we will take a look at the colour and life local artists that are breathing into the area. Examining the past and present, we'll explore the abbey ruins, exciting sculptures, concrete skywalks, and vivid murals that make this place the Town of Tomorrow.

We will end the tour near Bazalgette Way, SE28 8GS. Your guide can direct you to the nearest bus stop and will also walk back to the station

Route

We will begin our walk at Abbey Wood station, before walking uphill to Lesnes Abbey, then turning our attention north, walking across and through some of the Thamesmead estates, walking alongside Southmere Lake and finishing close to the Lakeside Centre.
