Enfield Council and Jan Kattein Architects have transformed a set of derelict garages in Angel Edmonton into warm, generous, affordable spaces for community and young enterprise.

Edmonton has been described as a working class suburb but there are now signs of growing affluence, a result of regeneration and some might say the neighbourhood is ripe for gentrification. The walk will explore a variety of neighbourhoods.

Sarabande was set up by the late designer, Lee Alexander McQueen, who left the majority of his estate to support creative and visionary talent.

In response to the evolving needs of sustainable living, especially in the wake of the pandemic, the project challenges conventional spatial dynamics. A two-storey wooden structure with a pitched roof redefines the interplay between ground and upper levels, resulting in an expansive, airy ambience that promotes creativity and versatility.
