The house was designed by the architect owner to accommodate their family within their existing neighbourhood, a leafy street in South London. Six Columns was selected as the RIBA 2024 House of the Year after winning a RIBA National and Regional Award. From the street the house is discrete and considerate of the setting, but not meek in character or detail. From a distance it sits comfortably alongside its neighbours, as you approach and enter its character is revealed.

Six Columns is discreet and considerate of its setting and as you approach its personality is revealed. It is rich in architectural character; stepping brickwork wall, rustication and pilasters and a green marble panel which adds detail and a sense of civic luxury to the entrance. It prioritises shared spaces across its three floors with few contained rooms. It won RIBA House of the Year 2024.

Designed by Charles Barry Jr in the Victorian Gothic style, it has been a landmark in Dulwich since it was painted by the French Impressionist Camille Pissarro in 1870. There is a fine fresco painted by Sir Edward Poynter in the chancel.
