This walking tour will be covering the Dockland’s historical relationship with the United States. Walking from near East India Quay DLR station to Canary Wharf Jubilee line station, this tour explores the Docklands' many connections to US history starting with colonization of the US, leading to the transatlantic trade of enslaved people, and ending with the regeneration of Canary Wharf as we see it today.

About

Historical relationship between Docklands and US

This walking tour will be exploring the role that London's Docklands has played in US history as well as how the US has shaped the Docklands as we see it today. Our route will follow this historical relationship in chronological order as we start with the colonization of the US by the English, to the transatlantic trade in enslaved people, and the regeneration of Canary Wharf.

This tour is led by a participant of Open City’s Golden Key Academy – a course training up insightful and engaging guides dedicated to explaining London and bringing its many stories to life. It is part of a wider collection of tours created by Golden Key Academy guides for the Open House Festival celebrating their conclusion of the eight month course.
