The Stirling-prize shortlisted King’s Cross Masterplan established a framework for the incremental redevelopment of this industrial heritage site through a mix of uses and a network of public spaces structuring new urban blocks and knitting the site into its context.

The Aga Khan Centre, designed by Pritzker prize winning architect Fumihiko Maki, houses the UK institutions of the Aga Khan Development Network. A unique feature are its six gardens inspired by different regions of the Muslim world.

At around 9m x 6m and 3-storeys high, the top floor originally contained a vast 70 cubic metre capacity cast iron water tank. This tank now forms an impressive viewing gallery; the exterior has ornate brickwork and elaborate detailing.

Queer Britain is the UK’s permanent museum of LGBT History. Housed in a converted Victorian office building in the heart of the regenerated King’s Cross area, the galleries are a riot of voices and objects from over 100 years of queer history. At Open House 2025, Queer Britain’s volunteer guides will give talks demonstrating the museum’s mission to reclaim, preserve and inspire LGBTQ+ history.

A rare chance to see inside a Grade II listed brick-arched studio on Pancras Road. Now home to Brick Sixty, who design and make products in the form of the much-loved London brick. Built from 1895-1898, this pointed-arch arcade is one of the last surviving structures of the former Midland Railway Company coal depot, originally erected as offices and coal trading stores.

One of four Commissioners’ Churches by W and HW Inwood in Camden, St Mary’s is currently hidden by a scaffolding crash deck that is protecting the public from the risk of falling stonework. Threatened with closer and demolition in 2024, the Grade II listed church has been championed by conservation groups and community alike, for the importance of its social history as well as its architecture.
