A rare opportunity to see inside Wapping Hydraulic Power Station, built in 1890 and London's last hydraulic power station to be decommissioned. The site has been closed for the last ten years, but is now entering a new era under the custodianship of Glass Castle Foundation, which has begun restoration ahead of plans to breathe new life into the building as a centre for experimental arts.

A chance to get inside the historic Wapping Hydraulic Power Station, a prime example of London’s industrial heritage which has been closed for the last decade. This is an opportunity to see the engine room and boiler house of what was the world's last hydraulic power station to be decommissioned.
This event is organised by Glass Castle Foundation, which is bringing Wapping Hydraulic Power Station back to life as a venue for experimental artistic practice.
There will be a drop-in drawing workshop hosted by architects from ByOthers, Glass Castle's design consultant. Participants are invited to explore the building’s distinctive textures by making graphite rubbings or clay tile stamping, which when assembled will form a collective texture map.
We will also be joined by members of the History of Wapping Trust who can share their expertise, maps and publications about the history of the area.
There will also be opportunities to join short informal tours with Open House guides, or simply walk around the building at your own leisure.
