Punchdrunk resides on the Woolwich Works Creative District, a multi-million pound regeneration led by the Royal Borough of Greenwich to restore Grade II-listed military buildings into a new cultural hub.
Punchdrunk's home is formed from three of these former Arsenal buildings: the Cartridge Factory, the Laboratory and the Carriageworks. These buildings were initially built for munitions production and military vehicle repair, and are now joined together into one continuous space.
Punchdrunk's approach is site-sympathetic; rather than disguising that industrial history, the design works with it and the buildings' existing scale, structure and traces of former use are core aspects of the storytelling. Walking through, you're moving through both the Arsenal's real history and Punchdrunk's immersive worlds, layered together.
