About

Layout

The Wax Chandlers Company is one of the older city livery companies and stands at Number 20 in the order of Precedence laid down in 1484. Like many of the older companies, it operates from premises in the City which include offices for the Court and the staff, as well as the Great Hall in which dinners and lunches are held regularly by the Company and by customers hiring the hall for their occasion.

The ground floor contains the Court room where the Court (committee) of the Company holds meetings, as well as a small parlour. The original charter and grant of arms from Richard III 1484 can be seen on the walls.

The second floor cotntains the Great Hall which accommodates just over 70 for lunch or dinner.
