About

History

In 1879 J L Pearson was appointed to design this Church, which was to be an Anglo-Catholic Church, reflecting the principles and aesthetics of the Oxford movement. The Church, which Pearson himself was to describe as 'a place for real worship' was dedicated on October 1st 1881 and consecrated in 1895. Fine interior fittings by leading ecclesiastical artists and furnishers were added throughout the 20th Century.
