70 Harfield Gardens, SE5 8DB
This early British modernist house was recently renovated on a constrained site. Originally a single storey house, planning permission was granted for a second storey to double the internal floor space. Huge floor to ceiling windows with sliding doors open the interiors to bamboo-lined courtyards, encouraging a sense of inside-outside that is a hallmark of midcentury design.

Quinn Architects are delighted to open the doors of this Harfield Gardens residence to members of the local community and general public. This early British modernist home, originally single-storey, has been completely reinvented to double its space, all while embracing the challenges of building on a constrained site. With the addition of a second storey and expansive floor-to-ceiling windows that seamlessly blend the indoors with bamboo-lined courtyards, the house is an important example of midcentury design reimagined for today.
Join us for an exclusive tour, led by the Director and Project Architect, who will share the story behind the building’s remarkable transformation. Visitors will discover the architectural significance of the project, the creative solutions used to overcome the site’s limitations, and how this residence plays an important part in the neighbourhood and its history.
