About

Tannery Arts

Tannery Arts is a small, independent charity that supports the professional development of emerging and established artists. We do this by providing affordable studio spaces and creating opportunities to exhibit work, develop projects and build meaningful partnerships.

Tannery Arts supports emerging and established artists by providing affordable studio spaces and secure working conditions for artistic practice. Our core work focuses on developing, managing and maintaining studio buildings, while also creating opportunities for artists to exhibit, collaborate and develop new projects through Tannery Projects.

History

Built in 1905, Winchester House is a remarkable part of London’s architectural and cultural heritage. Originally serving as the headquarters for London’s expanding fleet of black cabs, the building once accommodated offices and facilities for up to 2,000 taxis.

Later, it became home to the University of Wales, traces of which still linger in the preserved interior signage.

Today, Winchester House is revitalised as a creative hub, with its grand indoor spaces transformed into studios by Tannery Arts, continuing its legacy through art and innovation.
