The Caravan Gallery is a unique mobile art project founded by Jan Williams and Chris Teasdale in 2000. Operating from a converted touring caravan, the gallery has spent 26 years documenting and celebrating everyday British life, taking art directly to communities across the UK and internationally. Working at the intersection of documentary photography, community engagement and contemporary art, The Caravan Gallery is equally at home in festivals, town centres, museums, and international biennials.
During Open House Festival, The Caravan Gallery will be popping up around Croydon Town Centre to share their travelling exhibition exploring Croydon's buildings and people.
The project captures the character of the borough through the people and places that shape it. Their photographs will be exhibited in a travelling caravan gallery across Croydon during Open House Festival week, including at Build / Play / Shape in The Queen’s Gardens, 12-13 September.
The Caravan Gallery will be appearing around the town centre throughout Open House Festival, so if you are unable to make it to our Build / Play / Shape weekend, please come along to one of the below:
