SET Lewisham Open Studios

As part of SET’s 10th anniversary celebrations, SET Lewisham will open its doors for the second stop on the organisation’s month-long Open Studios tour. One of SET’s earliest project and studio sites, the space is part of a wider network of London buildings transformed by the arts charity into genuinely affordable studios for artists.

Originally a Mothercare shopping centre, the building has since been transformed into studios for artists, with at least 50% of SET Lewisham’s members living in the borough. On Wednesday 16 September, 6-9pm, visitors can drop in, explore the studios, meet artists and get an insight into the work being made across the building.

The former creche has also been repurposed as a project space, hosting a group exhibition curated by and featuring eight studio members from SET’s sister space on Lewisham High Street. The street-facing gallery will also feature work by SET Artists, including Naomi Ellis, Harry Bix, Joe Davies, James Middleton, Gareth Cadwallader, Claudia Klaus, Paul Nash and Ro.

Free drinks will be flowing throughout the evening, with South London plant-based legends En Root serving Indian food on site.

Whether a neighbour, art lover, SET regular or simply curious to see what goes on behind the doors, everyone is welcome.
