Based in what was once the heart of east London’s print industry, the London Centre for Book Arts (LCBA) is an artist-run, open-access studio offering education programmes for the community and affordable access to resources for artists and designers.
The Centre’s mission is to foster and promote book arts and artist-led publishing in the UK through collaboration, education, distribution, and by providing open-access to printing, binding and publishing facilities.
The studio is comprised of a working printshop and bindery with an extensive collection of special equipment, along with a gallery, unique research library and shop. The facilities at LCBA are available to everyone regardless of background, education or experience.
Join one of our guided tours, meet our members or speak to a studio manager to find out about our range of workshops and how to join the community of artists, designers, publishers and makers at LCBA - the first and only centre of its kind in the UK.
An opportunity to access all areas of London Centre for Book Arts including the letterpress print workshop, book bindery and risograph studio. Tours of the building, led by co-founder Simon Goode, will introduce visitors to the industrial history of the area, and the unique facilities and community of makers based at LCBA.
UN—FOLDED is an exhibition of artist books by Haein Song, featuring hand-made books incorporating linocut, etching, cyanotype, and letterpress printing.
Entirely handmade, these books explore the themes of memory, aging, loss and pain; and techniques of mark making, colour theory, pencil drawing, typewriting, hole punching and paper folding.
