About

Bodney Road Studios

Bodney Road Studios is a commercial studio space home to a range of researchers, designers and creatives. The two studios are set in an old joinery and share a communal courtyard. The derelict workshop was renovated with architects Mooradian Studio and shortlisted in the AJ Retrofit Awards in 2022.

'The budget was small, and as such the project is characterised by an aesthetic of ‘economy-of-means’: not using materials where they don’t need to be used, keeping and celebrating the eccentric features of the building, leaving some materials raw and exposed, designing with sheet materials in an economical way, and making simple cuts into surfaces to bring in light or allow new uses. This aesthetic grew out of the architect’s sustainable approach to building – less is truly more when designing sustainably. The project is a testament to how simple material choices and design moves can transform existing spaces.' – Aram Mooradian, Mooradian Studio
