Aldgate straddles two boroughs – City of London and Tower Hamlets, and sits at the intersection of the Square Mile and the East End. From Roman origins, to its medieval history as a gateway into the capital, and throughout the centuries a place where immigrants settled and made a home, the area repays further exploration.
