St Anne's the Tower, and Allen Room are open for visiting from 13:00 and will close at 18:00.
The original church commissioned by Henry Compton, Bishop of London was consecrated in 1686. It was the work of William Talman (under Christopher Wren). The original tower (1703) by Meard was deemed unsafe and replaced by the existing tower by Cockrell (1811) which contains the clock's hand wound mechanism. Only the tower, and adjacent St Anne's House, survived the bombing in 1940. Rebuilt in 1990 as a multi-function community space and chapel with the entrance enhanced and refurbished following a competition with students from Central St Martins College of Art in 2016, winning the Church Architecture of the Year Award.
For Open House London there will be access to the tower, clock mechanism, modern chapel and Allen Room.
The ground floor of the tower also contains the memorial to, and ashes of, Dorothy L Sayers.
The chapel contains striking bronze artworks by Thomas Duttenhoeffer and will feature a small display of historic and contemporary embroidered vestments.
The Allen Room has an ornate plaster ceiling and stained glass windows commemorating the service of Thomas Allen to the City of Westminster
The Church is usually accessed only via 55 Dean St, but for Open House London can also be accessed directly through St Anne's Gardens on Wardour St.
There are narrow and steep steps to climb within the Tower, and a few steps to the tower if approached from the Church.
There is step free access to the Church and Allen Room if approached from Dean St
