A walking tour exploring the work of early 19th century master-builder, Thomas Cubitt. Explores how the area has changed and been shaped by some of the important and influential planning, housing and design ideas of its time.

One of London's best Victorian churches and a key building in the history of the Gothic Revival. Polychromatic brickwork, with interior art work by G.F. Watts and Thomas Earp, and stained glass windows and painted ceiling by Clayton and Bell. The building is Grade I listed.

G E Street, 1861

Lillington Gardens in Pimlico, Westminster, was built from 1961 to 1971 by Darbourne & Darke. It set a new standard in high-density public housing with medium-rise structures and private gardens. Blending well with nearby Victorian surroundings, the modernist design won multiple awards and was praised by Nikolaus Pevsner as 'the most interesting recent housing in inner London'.

The story of Pimlico Library reflects the wider history of the neighbourhood, demonstrating how community buildings can adapt and evolve while remaining at the heart of local life. It is unusual in that it shares the Pimlico Academy Campus with Westminster's Adult Education Service.

This tour will explore themes of incarceration, reuse, and renewal focusing on the Millbank Penitentiary and Millbank Estate in Westminster. The walk will explore where the Penitentiary stood, its architectural style, its chequered history and its conditions for inmates. The walk will then take in Millbank Estate, its origins, design, and its physical connection with the Penitentiary.

A Grade 2 listed former Territorial Army Drill Hall featuring restored elements of the original 1882 design. It has a triple height central hall with the restored wrought iron balconies and roofing. Notable Neo-Georgian design brickwork. It is also unique in being the last ever military drill hall built in the UK.

A rare example of Thomas Archer's work and a masterpiece of English Baroque, originally dubbed Queen Anne's Footstool. A Grade I listed building, restored by Marshall Sisson after extensive bombing damage, now a busy concert hall.

Open Day: LFB's grade II listed Memorial Hall, part of the LFB's Art Deco Headquarters, opened in 1937. The hall is rarely seen by the public and contains stunning large memorials by Gilbert Bayes depicting episodes in the Fire Brigade's history and post-war memorials commemorating firefighters lost protecting London in the Second World War.
