About

Edward the Confessor's Abbey

Westminster Abbey was consecrated in December 1065, during the final days of King Edward the Confessor’s reign. Whilst much of the Abbey that we see today is the result of an ambitious rebuilding project initiated by Henry III in the 13th century, there are still a few remnants of Edward’s 11th century building.

This special tour will explore these rare 11th century spaces, taking in the Undercroft, Pyx Chamber and Dark Cloister. Discover what they have been used for over the years and learn about how they are being cared for in the present day.

Please be aware that this tour does not include entry to the main Abbey building. The tour will last approximately 30 minutes and only visit the named locations.
