Queer Britain is the UK’s permanent museum of LGBT History. Housed in a converted Victorian office building in the heart of the regenerated King’s Cross area, the galleries are a riot of voices and objects from over 100 years of queer history. At Open House 2025, Queer Britain’s volunteer guides will give talks demonstrating the museum’s mission to reclaim, preserve and inspire LGBTQ+ history.

Queer Britain is a haven of inclusivity in the heart of the busy Kings Cross area.
Queer Britain Museum has mission to Reclaim, Preserve and Inspire LGBTQ+ history and culture. It is housed in a converted Victorian office building in the heart of the regenerated King’s Cross area. This small but grandly proportioned Victorian office building was originally built to house the Great Northern Railway’s administrative staff, next to the goods yard that once adjoined the site.
With new and absorbing exhibitions for 2026, there are over 200 objects and a range of stories from over 100 years of queer history on display.
For the Open House weekends 2026, Queer Britain Museum’s expert community volunteer guides will give talks within the galleries about key exhibits on display in the museum, and treasures from our archives that are not normally on public view. Talks will take place on the hour from 1pm to 5pm each Saturday and Sunday, exploring the UK’s LGBTQ+ history and culture in this unique space.
The museum’s galleries are complemented by an excellent LGBTQ+ shop, and nearby there are canals, restaurants, cafes, stores and public squares.
