A Space for Us – People’s Museum Somers Town is a space to preserve local voice and the area; to celebrate an incredible ‘radical, reformers and uncommon people’s‘ histories, to record the change now, as well as to campaign and preserve local working class heritage.

A great little museum set in the Grade 2 listed Ossulston Estate - a prime example of pre-war Social housing - based on Karl Marz Hof in Vienna. Open Wednesday to Saturday 10am-5pm.

Dating from 11/12C and standing on the oldest site of Christian worship in London (3C). Inside is much 17C ornamentation and outstanding 6C Altar Stone, reputed to have belonged to St Augustine. Surrounding Churchyard, containing tombs of Sir John Soane, Mary Wollstonecraft and others, has been extensively restored and recently refurbished.

One of four Commissioners’ Churches by W and HW Inwood in Camden, St Mary’s is currently hidden by a scaffolding crash deck that is protecting the public from the risk of falling stonework. Threatened with closure and demolition in 2024, the Grade II listed church has been championed by conservation groups and community alike, for the importance of its social history as well as its architecture.

The church (1822 - Grade I listed) is an early and important example of Greek Revival architecture in London. Significant features include the caryatids and tower copied from models in Athens, and the atmospheric crypt.

Queer Britain Museum is the UK’s national LGBTQ+ museum. Housed in a converted Victorian building in the heart of the regenerated King’s Cross area, the galleries feature over 200 objects from over 100 years of queer history. At Open House 2026, Queer Britain’s volunteer guides will give talks demonstrating the museum’s mission to reclaim, preserve and inspire LGBTQ+ history.
