Bankside was once a secluded powerhouse of Victorian London, a place that kept industry in and casual visitors out. Today, it boasts a network of arches and alleyways repurposed for public use. Led by a Bankside insider, this tour explores the history and reclamation of the arch as a usable space through an emerging urban trail – including the brand-new America Street redevelopment.

We will follow an emergent urban trail – The Low Line – exploring how these industrial elevated railway lines are being radically reimagined. Expect vibrant, usable public spaces, cultural hubs, and green corridors for the local community. Through a nuanced blend of urban design, local history, and contemporary placemaking strategy, this tour reveals how the historical bones of London are being repurposed to shape a sustainable future for the city.
